Pace at the Park

Join fellow horse enthusiasts and test the
partnership between horse and rider.

  

Event Information

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. on June 8th.

The competition will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Awards ceremony at 1:30 pm. 

Entry Fees:  $25.00 per rider, $20.00 for Park Express members. Non-competitive re-rides are $10.

 

  • All riding disciplines are welcome.
     

  • Appropriate riding clothes including a safety helmet, riding shoes, saddle and bridle are required for all participants!
     

  • The competition will reveal how well you can pace your horse.  You won’t know the length of the course or how long it will take to finish, thus, the concept of the PACE.
     

  • Taft Reserve is situated in southeastern Licking County. The course consists of riding through woods, an optional bridge, water crossings, open meadows and rolling hills. The  vistas of  surrounding farms will remind you of Virginia.
     

  • Competitors will ride in teams of 1 to 3 people. 
     

  • Pick your pace: 

                Class C: 100mpm/3.72mph    
                Class B: 200mpm/7.45mph   
                Class A: 300mpm/11.18mph
     

  • The course has jumps ranging in height from 18 inches to 3 ft.  Jumping is not necessary to win.  There will be a  mown  path that pacers can use to bypass each jump.
     

  • The course will be finalized by Saturday afternoon.  You are welcome to walk the course on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.  All must clear the course by 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

 

If you don’t want to ride but would like to share the fun,
volunteers are needed!
